Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory
About this opportunity
The SAO Summer Intern Program is a 10 week NSF funded REU program at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where students complete a research project in astronomy with an SAO/Harvard staff scientist mentor. Potential areas of research include Galactic and extragalactic astronomy, interstellar medium and star formation, stellar astrophysics, supernovae, laboratory astrophysics, astrochemistry, instrumentation, planetary and atmospheric science and cosmology. There are also field trips, discussion meetings that address research ethics and career development, and a summer colloquium series.
