About this opportunity
The focus of the REU Program is to provide participants with the opportunity to carry out an independent research project while working under the direction of a faculty mentor. This program not only provides participants with specific knowledge of marine science, but will also develop the student's background and confidence to make career and educational choices in the future.While carrying out their research, REU students will be given the opportunity to acquire basic research skills, learn analytical techniques, develop data interpretation, and presentation proficiency. REU participants will benefit from a series of workshops on professional skills, and attend lectures by outstanding visiting speakers. Participants may earn up to 8 academic credits for the experience with prior approval
