The Mystic Aquarium Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) will recruit and support the training of students over 10 weeks during the summer. At least 50% from academic institutions where research opportunities in STEM are limited. Students will be housed together at Mitchell College and will be bused all together to the nearby University of Connecticut, Avery Point in Groton, CT, which currently hosts Mystic Aquarium's marine science labs as well as collaborative partner UConn's Department of Marine Sciences. The project will connect undergraduate students with established research mentors to investigate how global change affects marine animals and their ecosystems.
