Comparative Regenerative Biology and Aging REU Program
Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (MDIBL)
About this opportunity
Each summer, 20 undergraduates from around the United States participate in research fellowship opportunities at MDI Biological Laboratory. Undergraduate students work in the laboratory of an MDI Biological Laboratory investigator on an independent project designed by the student and their mentor. Laboratory training may include techniques in molecular biology, physiology, and bioinformatics. Projects are wide-ranging and could include the comparative study of laboratory animals (zebrafish, C. elegans, or salamander), work with cultured cells, and biological tissue preparation and advanced microscopy. In addition to pursuing their independent research projects, students attend weekly seminars given by MDI Biological Laboratory scientists and invited speakers from other institutions, partic
