This REU program aims to safeguard human and physical infrastructure against disasters by using community-centered methods and local knowledge. Participants will investigate disaster planning, rural/urban infrastructure challenges, and the resilience of water, energy, and transportation systems.Supported by the Kansas NSF EPSCoR initiative ARISE, participants receive a $7,000 stipend, summer housing, a campus meal plan, and a small travel stipend. Travel is expected within Kansas for professional development and team-building activities. Participants are paired with professors at Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, or Wichita State University.
